Imaging

  • Most ink in the ink-jetting process is water-soluble.
  • Fast dry inks are used to reduce the need for high intensity heat lamps and dryers.
  • Waste fluids are contained, collected and properly disposed of.
  • Any wasted printed materials are collected and recycled.

The Mailing Process

In addition to using eco-friendly materials, Universal Mailing Service utilizes the latest technology to eliminate waste in the mailing process. Data hygiene has always played an important role, and reducing undeliverable mail is paramount in our data processing service. UMS has taken a number of steps to upgrade the mailing process to eco-friendly levels.

  • Mailing lists are kept current using the latest technology and database programs.
  • Duplicate addresses are removed to avoid unnecessary multiple mail pieces.
  • “Move update” methods are utilized to insure the proper addressing and delivery of mail pieces.
  • Continued logistics are used to ensure delivery of mail closest to the designated Post Offices.

Paper and Printing

  • UMS's internal printing process uses FSC approved recycled paper.
  • Paper purchasing is done from select vendors who meet eco-friendly expectations.
  • Paper is purchased by proper size to minimize wasted trim and scrap.
  • Any scrap paper is recycled.
  • UMS's internal printing process utilizes vegetable based inks.
  • Any spoiled printed materials are collected and recycled.
